HYALURONIC ACID – WRINKLE FILLERS

ΥΑΛΟΥΡΟΝΙΚΟ

Hyaluronic acid is a material that is extensively employed by plastic surgeons worldwide for filling in wrinkles, as well as generally treating deficiencies of the face.

However, there are several other materials that fall under the ‘filler’ label. These filler materials are many in number, and we do not need to provide a full list here. Instead we shall focus on hyaluronic acid, as it is more or less the standard filler material that is most frequently used today.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid was not as widely used a few years ago; instead, collagen was the material most frequently employed. In recent years, however, following some alterations to its production proves, hyaluronic acid’s durability was significantly improved, causing its use to spread exponentially.

Hyaluronic acid has become so widely acknowledged for a number of reasons:

•    It is fully safe.
•    Its effect have a very satisfying duration.
•    Its cost is acceptable.

It is a gel-like, transparent material. It is delivered to plastic surgeons paced in syringes, which the surgeon need only attach a needle to. Afterwards, an effusion is made to the deficient area, whether this is a wrinkle or a general lack of volume in some part of the face.

ΥΑΛΟΥΡΟΝΙΚΟ

Hyaluronic acid is most frequently applied to the radiesse wrinkles, i.e. those wrinkles that originate from the nose and conclude at the corners of the mouth. It is also often applied to the ‘marionette’ wrinkles (which begin at the corners of the mouth and continue dowanrds), the forehead wrinkles, smoker’s wrinkles (mouth area), wrinkles or general filling around the cheeks, filling in the areas of the cheekbones and under the eyes, lip augmentation, correcting anomalies in the lower jawline, improving the shape of the nose, correcting neck wrinkles, and various others. Today, hyaluronic acid is no longer considered merely a filler material for wrinkles. It is considered to be a material with the potential to alter the shape of the face, and even improve skin texture.

THE RESULTS OF APPLYING HYALURONIC ACID

The results become immediately apparent, leaving only a little inflammation in the area in question which can be easily concealed using makeup. As the result is immediate, the patient may decide whether or not the effused quantity of the material is sufficient, and if they want to have some more added while they are there.

RETURNING TO DAILY ACTIVITIES

A return to daily activities can be made immediately, as there will be no visible indication that the patient has undergone the procedure. The result’s duration tends to depend on the type of hyaluronic acid used, and usually last from 9 to 18 months.

ADVANTAGES OF HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid is a very safe material which does not trigger a reaction from the organism. It is a fully acceptable material for the human body, as hyaluronic acid naturally exists in the human organism in any case, and is, as such, recognized by the body as part of it.

ΥΑΛΟΥΡΟΝΙΚΟ

Hyaluronic acid offers the following advantages:

•    It is completely safe for the organism.
•    The patient can observe the result step-by-step, and as such there is no chance of excessive application, since the result will become immediately evident.
•    In the event that the patient is not satisfied by the result, they may seek an antidote in hyaluronidase, which can dissolve the hyaluronic acid in under twelve hours.
•    The material’s cost is significantly lower than what it used to be.

NEW USES OF HYALURONIC ACID

The uses of hyaluronic acid increase as time passes. Over the last few years it has been extensively employed in rhinoplasty without surgery. A different, more diluted type of hyaluronic acid has found use in mesotherapy, where of course it does not aid in filling, but in moisturizing. Also, a new type of hyaluronic acid has been developed recently, which is now used to administer fillings to the body, the buttocks, the breasts, etc.

The simplicity of the operation, combined with the immediate result and its safety, have instated hyaluronic acid as one of the standard, most frequently used materials in contemporary plastic surgery.
